Population

Phase 4 is the final phase of the project and updates Phase 3 using demographic evidence published since it was completed.  This includes the initial dissemination of population statistics from the 2011 Census, 2011 mid-year estimates that have resulted from these new census data, plus the interim 2011-based sub-national population projection published by the Office for national Statistics following the release of the new estimates.  An update of the scenario forecasts presented in Phase 3 has not been undertaken within Phase 4 of the project.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is a partner in a project commissioned by the Essex Planning Officers' Association to produce demographic forecasts to replace forecasting work previously carried out by the East of England Regional Assembly. Edge Analytics were commissioned to carry out the forecasting work using the POPGROUP model.

The Phase 3 report of July 2012 set out population projections, with associated household projections incorporating analysis of the components of population change in terms of natural change, net migration within the UK and net international migration.
