The High View Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was adopted by the council on 12 April 2011. It sets out the planning framework to guide the sustainable re-development of the neighbourhood centre (also known as the Hill Top shops) in South Hatfield.

The High View SPD

The SPD expands upon policy H1 of the Welwyn Hatfield District Plan (2005) which identified High View as a housing site that would be suitable for mixed use development including housing, retailing, services and community facilities.

In the document it establishes the type, amount and mix of development that should be delivered at High View and sets out the proposed layout for the site, in addition to providing guidance on design and sustainability initiatives. Any development on this site should be brought forward in line with the SPD, which is now a material planning consideration against which any planning application for the site will be determined.

Supporting documentation

The SPD is supported by a Icon for pdf Statement of Community Consultation which sets out a summary of all the representations received on the SPD, the council's response to the representations, and any resulting changes to the SPD; and an Icon for pdf Adoption Statement required under the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004.
