The Welwyn Hatfield Local Plan will be the blueprint for future growth in the borough for the period up to 2036.
The Examination Inspector has written a number of reports relating to the soundness of the Plan and the need for more sites to be added in to the Plan. These are published as examination documents.
In the light of the promised reforms of the Planning system members of Cabinet wrote to the Secretary of State asking for clarity about future reforms and the need for housing identified by the Inspector. The letters can be viewed here Letter to Secretary of State Michael Gove 08.10.2021 Council Leader correspondence response from Minister 18.11.2021
The Council will be considering its response to the Inspector at a series of Council meetings over the next few weeks the first of which is Cabinet Planning and Parking Panel on 13 January 2022
The Local Plan will shape the future of development in our towns and villages between now and 2036 - new homes, new jobs and business premises, open spaces and community facilities for people to use and infrastructure such as roads, schools and healthcare. It is about supporting the growth of Welwyn Hatfield and a vibrant local economy.
Following various rounds of consultation, our Local Plan was submitted for examination in May 2017.
