March 2021:

 

The Cabinet Planning and Parking Panel (CPPP) on met on 10th December 2020 and made a recommendation to the Council's Cabinet to proceed with the proposed restrictions. The formal objection was considered along with the Parking Services report. 240 properties were consulted, with one objection received during the formal objection stage. As the decision to proceed with the parking restrictions as advertised was unanimous, an executive member decision was made on 21st December 2020 and this can be viewed online at: https://www.welhat.gov.uk/delegated-decisions 

The Traffic Regulation Order Icon for pdf Essendon yellow lines TRO - made March 2021 has now been created and sealed to introduce the double yellow lines as advertised and the single yellow line change to 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday in West End Lane to enable better access for the bus service and large vehicles. 
Double Yellow Lines apply 24 hours a day 7 days a week. 

The notice of making of Order was advertised in the Welwyn Hatfield Times on Wednesday 24th March 2021 and public notices will be placed in due course on lamp-posts near the affected parts of the road(s) in due course. The restrictions will come into effect on Monday 17th May 2021. 

Signage and lining works will take place during April and May dependant on weather conditions. We will also be ensuring the lines placed are in accordance with the conservation area. 

We are continuing to work with County Council to enhance the bus layby on Essendon Hill to create additional space for parking, and further details regarding that will be communicated in due course.

 

 

October 2020: As a result of previous consultations in 2018 and 2019 the council is now proposing double yellow lines and an alteration to an existing single yellow line. These restrictions are planned to reduce risk and increase the safety of road users and pedestrians. All documents relating to this consultation can be reviewed below.

Objections to the proposals must be made in writing either via post to Ka Ng, Council Offices, The Campus, Welwyn Garden City, Herts AL8 6AE OR by email at parking@welhat.gov.uk by Friday 6th November 2020, stating the grounds on which they are made.
